precenphix The triumphant return of Shiro Fujioka, further melding sample-based boom-bap instrumental hip-hop and possibly modular synthesis. It’s difficult to tell with this artist’s deft hand what sound is sourced from where. As much a head-nodded as it is for egghead electronic music fans. Part of the Modbap collective, Fujioka fearlessly weaves a web of groove-snaring tunes that implore head and neck movement. Favorite track: Burgundy Beatdown.

about

More boom bap beats from the Quaranteenager series.

When we got put in quarantine, I felt like a teenager on punishment stuck in my room with a sampler, some herb, and my imagination. Treat me like a teen and I'll start doing the kidult version of my teenage self...
making 90's style boombap with a modern twist, while still using the elements that our culture is built on, gritty drums and chopped samples.

May we all nod our heads in agreeance to being free through frequency.
Peace and love.
