Medicines & Wonders
Dedicated to my Mom Sharen Booker 1953-2022

This collection of songs is dedicated to the life of my mother Sharen Booker who recently transitioned on 08.28.22 after her battle with cancer.
She was only 68 years old and I never imagined that I would be morning her loss so soon.
She battled cancer over 20 years ago and won, she continued to eat healthy walk 2-3 miles a day, etc. and after 4 months of going to doctors and getting tests, they finally found cancer in her bladder, and they said it was too late for treatment and said she had a week to live, she was released into my care and was put in hospice status, her insurance didn’t cover the cost for a full-time nurse, so I stepped up and became the full-time caretaker for these past few months, the day she was diagnosed I lost one of my composing jobs and the following week I lost the 2nd one… now I was not only dealing with taking care of my mom full-time which included, cooking cleaning, changing her and keeping her clean, doing wound care because she was bedridden, but also taking care of everything financially as the medical bills piled up. I did have a nurse come out twice a week for an hour or two but I was in caretaker mode 24/7 getting about 2-3 hours of sleep a night.
During the time being awake late at night I started creating music to help keep our energy up, she remained in good spirits most of the time, we shared lots of laughs and she left me with a lot of knowledge and wisdom.
I was going to throw in the towel and stop making music about 12 years ago, and my mom reminded me that this is my calling and that just because the path is tough I didn’t have the luxury of quitting. So to honor her during the time she was battling this disease, I continued to create for her and myself, because music is medicine.
Sunday morning 08.28.22 I held my mom's hand for the last time and let her know how much I love her and how she was always an amazing mother no matter what she went through in her life she always has been a pillar of strength, positivity, knowledge, and fun. I gave her a kiss on her forehead and continued to hold her hand until she took her last breath and transitioned into the next realm, that was the most beautiful yet hardest moment of my life. She was the only family I had left on this planet, other than my beautiful cousin that lives out of state, my mom and I knew each other like no other in this realm so I feel a big part of who I am has also left this planet with her. She will forever live in my heart and I will always honor her in everything I do. This collection of songs is a way that I can honor her as well as raise money to take care of medical bills, memorial arrangements, and get back on my feet after losing work for the past few months.
I kept this situation pretty private these past few months, only a handful of my friends knew what we were going through. So now I humbly ask for help from the community that I have been serving and entertaining with not only my music but also with the positive words and perspectives I share with many of you publicly and privately.
I have a lot to bounce back from, but my mom raised me to be strong and I know times will get better, but I really need help getting through this. I thank you in advance for any financial, emotional, and spiritual support that you can give, it is truly appreciated.

Peace and love
